I've been doing some "random" bible reading, basically opening to random sections; first Isaiah 55 and Hosea 9 (8-9).
Isaiah hit me pretty hard. My goal to give up a 3rd vice for lent failed. I only made it 20 days. I'm going to try again starting today. I understand why what I was praying to get out of this was not there. Jesus was in the desert for 40 days with nothing, likewise I needed to be in the desert for 40 days for it. I kno it won't be easy but I have to do this. I need to do this. The time to turn is now sooner than later.
I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me. He can hold my hand but only I can make the choice to walk forward. I am always impressed when characters benture forth against impossible offs but why am I not willing to do the same?
Turn or be punished.
I can see how people can say that we, America, are being punished for our sins. We have all the signs of Israel when they were sent to Egypt. I would actually agree with the assessment that our nation is messed up, but I already knew that. Hosea 9 is where I sat. Hosea 9:8-9 really hti me too. "The prophet is watchmen for my God over Israel, yet traps are laid in front of him wherever he goes. He faces hostility even in the house of God. the things my people do are as depraved as what they did in Gibeah long ago, God will not forget. He will surely punish them for their sins."
